In the strange, silent hotel, one room was dark, although the sun was bright the rooms was a pit of blackness. The curtains were shut and the lights off. The only source of light was a laptop computer, sitting on a simple table.
Illuminated in the light was a pale faced man, he was standing. "I see..." he muttered softly. Then he stepped backward into a chair. There he sat on his feet, his index finger clinging onto his lip.
His shadowed eyes stared at the computer. After awhile he sighed. The Americans were so...incompetant...or well...people were...nobody was smart enough to figure anything out on there own...
Currently he was discussing a case with the FBI...of course he wasn't actually at the headquaters...all that the agents would be talking to would be a computer with his symbol on it... L spoke into the microphone next to the laptop. "Can you go over the details again?" he said into the microphone.
He stared at the reactions of the FBI agents in the room, some looked annoyed, he already assumed...no knew that some of them thought him a fake...that he wasn't actually the L. But of course...that didn't matter...he knew he was L...and only those who trusted him were the people he could work with. He shook his head...shoving a chocolate into his mouth.
Then he sipped from his coffee and made a face. He reached over behind the computer for a sugar bowl and drop three more sugar cubes into his drink, before taking another sip. This repeated several times as he was given the details.
He shook his head...it was so simple...he already had everything figured out...he was sure his deductions were correct...he just didn't have any real proof yet. His dark messy hair fell into his eyes as he spoke. "Arigatou gozimasu.." he said, forgetting he was speaking to Americans. "I will have Watari notify you when I am ready to announce my deductions..."
The screen went blank, L stared at the screen before opening a file, going over all the information gathered thus far. "If only I had one piece...there's just one simple piece of data that is missing...if I could locate that...then it could very well make this case..."
He sighed, a million thoughts going through his mind. He wanted to go back to Japan...there were multiple cases springing up...that he really was interested in...but he had started this one...and he would finish it...because he never lost...and he didn't plan on losing anytime soon.
"I am immature...in that particular subject..." chuckled L softly. "But...that's why I haven't lost yet..."
He sighed, deciding to get of this cramped, dark hotel room...he needed a change of scenery.
L opened the door and made his way, barefoot out to the hallway. He shoved his hands into his jean pockets. His head down he made his way to the pool. He smiled as the sun hit his pale skin then he made his way over to a lawn chair.
Like before, he sat on his feet, his pale hands resting on his knees. Crouching over, so he could properly see, L sat there, thinking. His dark eyes analyzed everything. For all he knew...each and everyone of these happy people could turn out a killer...and that's why...he never relaxed...he didn't trust a single one of them.

"Oh Come on!!"
Brook Wellrich stood outside the hotel room, the plastic key in the hole. Her fist was clenched over the long handel, white-knuckled and red-fingered from gripping tightly. She was wearing a bikini top, blue with white hawian flowers on the left breast. Her tanned copper stomach was totally exposed. Over her right shoulder hung a long, thick beach towel, speckled with white specks of sand and a small Brook-shaped wet spot. Her shoulder-length blonde hair clung limp, wet and salty on her shoulders, and she looked furiously at the door, wondering why her hotel room door would not open. The thought it might not be hers? Never crossed her mind.
Around her hips was a ankel-length, semi-transparent cover-up, totally encasing her left leg and exposing her right one. She let out a very angry noise and threw her hand away from the door, turning on her heel and running a hand through her wet hair. She tried again...

L's dark eyes flashed across the pool as a rather abonoxious nosie drifted across the pool. L could practicly hear his eyes roll as they found where it was coming from.
He analazed the girl...she looked like the preppy type...the type that never shut up...the type that thought she was better than everyone else...and she reminded him of someone...but he couldn't put his finger on it. Perhaps if I talk to her I might find out who... he thought, hating to be left in the dark.
Part of him knew it was stupid to draw any attention to himself...his life was constantly at sake...so therefore he kept his name quiet. The other part, which hated to not know things...was already beating the other part back. L rose of his some-what awkward looking position and made his way over to the door.
"Having trouble?" he asked simply, almost sure that she hadn't heard him approach...of course he knew exactly how to open the door...not that he would help...no he just wasn't that type of person. If she asked, he would help...if not...well...she'd have to find another way to get in...like through the window...

((sorry for my many mistakes, someone colored the 'Q' key green and it's throwing me off. And...is me a vampier? He seems strangley ike Eward.))
Brook looked at the man loke he might have two heads. "Sorry...but who are you and why are you in my room? She asked, tucking her blond hair behind one ear and srewing up her forhead. Her blue eyes flared unnessisarily, but she tried to stay calm. She was cold, wet and wanted a shower, very badly.

A small blonde woman bounced along the edge of the pool, she was wearing opaque tights and a pink dress that ended a few centimetres above her knees, with small stripes of pink velvet emblazoned over the right side. Her long blonde hair was pulled up into a ponytail and her white ice-skates were tied together by the laces and were flung over her left arm. Under the other was a big, fluffy white towel and inside that was a white bikini.
It had been pure luck that she had found a hotel with an ice-rink. It gave her time to practice her routine indoors and then head for the pool without much bother. She glanced around before skipping into one of the changing rooms and soon emerged again. Her clothes neatly folded and wearing her white bikini. Her blonder hair was down and fell just past her shoulders, she walked quickly to her room and put her clothes back on the bed; but as she emerged she saw a girl she recognized, Brooke, hammering on a door that she was certain wasn’t hers.
She sidled up the slowly and gave her a small smile, “Hi” she said lightly “I’m Dido, um...I don’t think that’s your room, isn’t it this one” she pointed at a door that was two rooms down “I thought I saw you go in there yesterday” she said to explain. She looked over and saw a tall man with long black hair. He had a mysterious air about him that she quite liked, she bowed her head and lowered her soft blue gaze shyly, not wanting to meet his eyes.

{color=fusha]She smiled at the girl fakely, eyes dull. Oh...Your proabally right. Good night, then... She said with a glance at L...she didn't know his name, even. She decided to make a note of his room number and call him after she got in...

((no he's not based off of Edward...he's based off of...well L XP...but I suppose L is sorta like Edward...only stranger))
L-
L blinked, confused by the emotions coming off of the two girls, confused. He blinked again...hating the confusion. Hm...what name to use...? he thought. "Konn...Hello Dido..." he barely stopped the Japanese greeting in time. "I am...Ryuuga..." he grinned, using one of his usual fake names.
He observed Dido's sudden shyness with confusion. He tilted his head and was suddenly right in front of her, staring up at her, there faces inches apart. "What's wrong with you...I don't understand..." His annoyance was clear on the last three words, but they were quickly replaced by curiousity.
Of course, he wasn't bothered by the closeness...it took quite a bit to bother him...the two main things were: losing, and not understanding. In the middle of his thoughts he realized that he might be making her uncomfortable.
He quickly stepped backward and sat down in a nearby chair. He sat on top of his bare feet, his arms wrapped around his jeans. He blinked at both of them, wondering what the stranger would do, and how Dido would anwser. Oh yes, she would anwser...he hated not knowing, therefore he would pry until he did.
Perhaps he was being rude, but to be honest...he really didn't care...he wasn't in the mood to get up and go back to the dark hotel room, he was being reckless right now...and once again...he didn't care.

Dido shrugged and followed him, sitting down by the edge of the pool in front of his chair. “It’s called being shy” she said quietly but loud enough for him to hear and shrugged. “I’m not too good with people” she murmured softly, after her father’s death people had seemed to happy...but when she did try to help them it always seemed like she’d said the wrong thing...like the girl back there. The blank eyes and the fake smile had upset her though she didn’t show it. She was a strong character and wouldn’t let others get to her...it was obvious she liked...Ryuuga...but Dido hadn’t realized until she’d pointed out the truth hoping to help her.
She felt the warm blue water around her feet, comforting after the constrictions of her ice-skates and the cold of the rink, here the sun beat down on them and it felt really good; although Dido never tanned, she only burned. She felt in her bag for some sunscreen and began applying it to her pale skin carefully. She still hadn’t looked properly at this man and she didn’t really intend to if he didn’t make a move on her, it would probably irritate that girl and Dido didn’t really need anymore enemies

L scratched his left big toe with his right one. "Hmm...shy...I could tell that part...I was just confused why..." He stared at her, his eyes narrowed. He already could tell a lot about her...just by looking at her...but that was L for ya.
L dropped his gaze to the water, and stared at his own curious expression. His pale skin, the dark rings under the eyes, his dark messy hair, not to mention his over all thin body... He blinked, not really caring that he looked like some sort of drug dealer.
He sighed, thinking about how some people got so absorbed in how they looked, and what they did...something L never did, therefore...he wasn't the most polite of people. "Judging by your skin you're not in the warmth very often...and your muscles are very well developed...which either means you're some sort of indoor athelte...or you work out a lot and are self-conscious, therefore not going outside very often, because you're afraid of being criticized by others..."
His deduction was simple...not that many others would full understand it...he couldn't explain his thinking process. "So which is it?"
He didn't care if his words sounded rude, or...perverted...oh yes...he'd been called that many times...for absolutely no reason. He knew what he said, could be taken badly, depending on the person. He sighed, not that he could blame them...he supposed sometimes it would look like that to someone who's mind wasn't on the same page as his.
Whenever he had to interrogate women...they would call him a pervert...he remembered clearly being called. "Mr. Stalker" once, whenever he had to interrogate some Japanese model. He frowned...his job was not an easy one, being the world's top three detectives...he could never be around people, so he wasn't sure how to act...which could get him into a lot of trouble sometimes.
It also forced him to protect his identy...he had a lot of enemies...which was another reason he stayed away from people...he didn't want to hurt someone because of who he was...he could never logically have a family...because they'd be in constant danger...they'd have to live like he did...in the dark, rarely seeing daylight, and when they would they'd have to use fake names.
He shook his head, he'd already thought through all this before...he knew what he could do and what he couldn't. He knew that he could never safely get close to people...he'd be alone...other than Watari he'd be alone...until the day he died...there would be no one to cry at his funeral...there might not ever be a funeral. Strangely...he accepted that...he would sacrifice all that, because he knew that he alone could be L...he alone could solve the most difficult cases...
He...was justic...he was L...and L...was alone. "That's depressing..." he murmured out-loud, without realizing it. He stared at the skin, his pointer finger resting on his lower lip. He should stop thinking such things...they didn't matter...it was already settled...he didn't have a choice.

Dido couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow “I’m a professional ice-skater” she said finally after a long pause, “Training’s hard so I don’t get out much...I don’t know many people and you’re constantly criticised for routines by judges and the way you perform by your country. It makes it hard to just meet people and when I do I screw it up like back there” she waved a hand in the direction of Brooke’s door “And I’m making a complete fool of myself now”
She looked at him again, taking in his features “I’d say you spend a lot of time indoors, you don’t sleep that much but your body is built for running” she couldn’t think of a profession to do with that apart from something sinister but strangely enough it didn’t frighten her.
She took a deep breath and moved to sit down beside him on the edge of the chair “And I also guess that you’re not going to tell me if I’m right”
She looked into his dark eyes that were partially covered by his dark hair with her own blue ones. She felt comfortable around him, even if he was slightly strange and sinister. Her blonde hair was floating around her shoulders like a gold halo and she was very beautiful though she refused to believe it.
The pool looked inviting, the sun sending lighter rays on the blue water and she wondered if he was going to swim, he looked quite hot in those clothes, she almost giggled when she thought that because to her in was in more ways than one.

L sighed, listening to her ramble on. "Quite honestly...to me, if you're human...you're also a fool...it's human nature..." he trailed off, thinking about 'human nature'. "As for not being social...I'm not so great about that either..." he trailed off agian, still thinking. He had to be careful, he might give away too much.
"Believe it or not I play tenis..." he told her. It was a good cover profession...and it was partically true...he was the British Junior Champion. It was more like he used to play tenis...but that didn't matter so much...he was still good enough to go pro...if he wanted to, but it wasn't like he had time. "Right now I'm taking a break..."
He stopped, thinking what else he would anwser. "As for sleep...the last time I slept was..." He thought. Today was Sunday...so that would be... "Last Monday I think..." He tilted his head. "Yeah...I don't sleep much...I can't...I have insomnia. Because of this...I eat a lot of sweets..."
It didn't show, not at all, not in his body at least. He had the ability to burn calories by thinking. He thought so much he stayed thin. It was an interesting concept, although he hadn't totally proved it. "Hmm..."
His pointer finger still rested on his lip as he thought. "An ice-skater...did you graduate?" he asked simply. He wondered how smart she was. In truth...he never had...but he never needed to. He'd taken every single collage entry test that existed...and gotten 100% on all of them. He saw no point in collage...he already knew everything that he would have learned then. Now he was rich, and famous. There were very few people, in the police force at least...who didn't know the name L.

Dido raised an eyebrow again, surprised by his bluntness... and even though she sounded annoyed when she replied, her eyes sparkled with humour “Yes I graduated” she said, smiling “I got in on a sports scholarship after my father died” she stopped in her tracks, the smile vanishing. She gave a small sigh and folded her arms across her chest.
“No wonder you need to take a break” she said in a matter-of-fact toner trying to bring the subject back “If you don’t sleep then you can’t possibly be at your best. Don’t they prescribe medicine for insomnia?”
She flicked her long blonde hair from her eyes as she watched him, he was mysterious and she was drawn to that, maybe curiosity maybe something else she did not know. She was only nineteen and already the most famous ice-skater there was, but she wouldn’t ever say that.
She wiggled her toes as she waited for his reply, it would probably be a riddle or he’d question her about her father. She hoped he didn’t, every time she did she started crying and that might bring the situation to her mother which would make her lose it completely.

L blinked. "I never needed to...for both of them...sleep and collage. I've never seen the need to dull by brain with drugs...and I adjusted...it's not so bad...it gives you time...to...reflect." He trailed off, staring at the sky. "Honestly I've never needed much sleep..."
At the word 'father' a deep hatrid and rage filled his chest...his grip on his knee tightened, causing his finger nails to dig into his skin. He forced himself to keep this feeling off his face and out of his voice. "My father...was not a respectable man..." he said emotionlessly.
His eyes narrowed as he took in her body language. She was obviously uncomfortable as he was with that particular subject. He wondered breifly how much she was believing of his story...then he banished the thought.
"I've never been ice skating...never even thought about it before...what's it like?" he said suddenly. He turned his body to face her, still sitting on his feet.
